Sesame oil is a semi dry oil that is easily absorbed. It is a very popular carrier oil, often used in aromatherapy and massage. It is also traditionally used in the practice of Indian medicine (Ayurveda) to remove heat, reduce stress and pacify the nervous system.

Sesame oil is rich in fatty acids including linoleic acid and oleic acid, as well as many vitamins and minerals including vitamin E, magnesium, copper, calcium, iron and zinc.

• Use for oil pulling, a traditional detoxification technique to clean the teeth and gums. Swish 1 tablespoon of sesame seed oil around your mouth, 'pulling' through the teeth, for 20 minutes every mourning. Spit the oil out, do not swallow and rinse with salt water
• For a revitalising morning ritual, warm some sesame seed oil and massage it into your skin, starting at the feet and using long sweeping motions up towards the heart. Let the oil soak in, then shower
