In March 2011 Laura Bonds mother, Gemma, was diagnosed with ovarian and uterine cancer. She soon found out that the only thing more shocking than telling people her mother had cancer was revealing that she was going to say ‘no' to chemotherapy.
Yet, why do we find this so shocking? According to studies, many oncologists would do the same. So, being a journalist, Laura started a blog to explain her mother's decision to go against mainstream medical treatments and to explore the alternatives. In the process I connected with many other cancer survivors who have beaten the odds by blazing their own path.
