About Four Sigmatic
Four Sigmatic was founded with the goal of cutting through all of the hype and helping people eat more of one of the world’s most scientifically studied superfoods, like mushrooms. We wanted to make these incredibly powerful foods taste better and be easier to use, so that they can be simply incorporated to upgrade your existing habits. In other words, no more fads, no more pills, and no more capsules. Our first mission in accomplishing this was to popularize drinking (yes, drinking) mushrooms.
When we founded Four Sigmatic, our first goal was to find something small that people could add to their current diet to produce a positive impact on their health. For us, the answer was obvious: functional mushrooms. Mushrooms aren’t the first thing most people think about when it comes to implementing a healthy lifestyle. And they’re definitely not as sexy as many of the superfood fads out there today. Most people connect the word "mushroom" with either psychedelics or common culinary mushrooms like Portobello. Here’s something we bet you didn’t know about mushrooms: they are among the world’s most studied superfoods. Because mushrooms are so beneficial, thousands of studies have been conducted and papers have been written testifying to their incredible properties—to date, 1,100 papers have been published on just one single type of mushroom, of which there are more than 10,000 known varieties in North America alone. Interestingly, most people don’t consume these functional types of mushrooms, so adding even small amounts can have benefits. During the last couple of generations, mushrooms have suffered from severe food racism, despite the fact that they are suitable to almost any diet, from Paleo to vegan.
