Ultimate comfort drink - hot cocoa!

Posted by Marie-Eve Maitland on 7th Dec 2017

Hot chocolate, such a wonderful drink - it makes us happy! Unfortunately, the majority of hot chocolate mixes on the market are full of low quality ingredients, way too much sugar and lots of other bits that don't need to be there at all.

This is full proof recipe I have made over and over again. Elodie is at an age where she loves a cup and this one is good for her, so all is well.

What’s in it?

Raw chocolate powder - Eating dark chocolate has tons of benefits. Cacao helps to protect the cells from oxidative stress and protect the body from free radicals. Upgraded Chocolate Powder is packed with antioxidants and compounds that help reduce inflammation.

Coconut Oil - A true superfood. It is one of the only stable oils that can withstand extreme temperature ranges without oxidizing. Abundant in nutrients, coconut oil stimulates metabolism to help burn stored fat, providing an instant source of energy.

Maple Syrup - This ensure a sweet taste and the 'woody' flavour from the syrup only enhance the overall taste. Trust me. Maple syrup also has a lower GI index and it won't impact your blood sugar levels. Also, the process to get maple syrup is fairly simple, you collect the sap from the tree, heat it and there you go. A much more natural, unrefined product.

Reishi - The king of mushrooms. Harmonise your longevity, energy and spirit with this superior immunity tonic. Natural adaptogen to help balance mental and physical stress. Nourish your heart and soothe your immune system.

I know there are lots of healthy recipes out there for hot cocoa but let's face it, you want the recipe to be easy, simple & tasty so here is how I make it and it's so good. I hope you like it as much as we do.

.**Update**We now sell some ready made version when you simply don't have the time. Have a look at Four Sigmatic Mushroom Hot Cacao Mix with Reishi and absolutely anything from the Four Sigmatic Range or the Sweet Revolution range. Their Organic Instant Beetroot Latte with Ginger is sublime and a firm favourite with my daughter (it might be because its pink but I am okay with that!)
