This month it’s all about Matcha Green Tea.
I love matcha green tea…when we first started stocking it I got hooked (and I still am) not only because of its taste but also its benefits. Matcha Green Tea is truly an amazing product: it’s packed with antioxidants, can help weight-loss, increase energy levels and cleanse the body (it contains lots of chlorophyll).
When using matcha green tea, you consume the whole leaf, not only the water it’s brewed in. Bear in mind that matcha green tea contains caffeine so I wouldn’t recommend it after 3pm.
Matcha green tea comes in a green powder form and can easily be added to food but below are my favourite recipes (for now):
Matcha Green Tea Frappe
2 teaspoon Dr Mercola matcha green tea
2 teaspoon organic coconut sugar
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon vanilla paste
Pinch Himalayan crystal salt
2 cup ice
2 cup coconut milk (if using a tin, make sure to shake it well!)
1. Using a bamboo whisk or hand held blender, mix together the matcha, coconut sugar, vanilla, salt in 2 tbsp of water until its all dissolved and there are no lumps left
2. In a food processor, blend the ice
3. Put the ice in 2 glasses (cold if you can), add the matcha mix and then top up with the coconut milk.
Matcha Green Tea Refresher (perfect to keep you hydrated)
Makes about 500 to 600ml
1 tsp Dr Mercola matcha green tea
500ml filtered water
1 lemon (½ sliced, ½ juiced) or more – depending on taste
A few drops of stevia and some ice (optional)
Directions Whisk the matcha green tea with a 1 tbsp of water to form a paste. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. This drink is perfect to sip on during the day for extra energy and a boost of antioxidants.
